IMMA - Irish Museum of Modern Art - National Drawing Day

May 26 2015

16 May 2015, people of all ages participated in a collaborative drawing as part of the National Drawing Day at IMMA.
Everone was given a hexagonal shaped piece of paper and a choice of pencils, soft to hard. The starting point was IMMA's current exhibition Fragments. They explored the galleries and grounds and came back with a drawing of something of interest to them. Each person added their hexagon shaped art to the collaborative wall drawing – 250 drawings later, this cell-like structure resembled a large honeycomb. The workshop which ran all day was conceived & facilitated by IMMA’s gallery staff, Olive Barrett and Barry Kehoe.

March 20 2015

Photographs shot for Production Services Ireland of Dublin Airport during St. Patrick's

weekend. PSI supplied all lighting for LD Kevin Saunders and DAA who were

responsible for our Airport greening. A sight to be seen.

WERK // THE ECSTASY OF TOMORROW

April 27 2012

To coincide with Alice in Funderland at The Abbey Theatre Dublin, WERK returned to the Peackock bar on Saturday for one night only.  An underground club with gold covered walls, 83 gold covered hula hoops, an Amsterdam window, installations, performance and discoteque. The whole night was pure gold. "Irreverent, bold and trashy; WERK is the house of outrageous investigation, obscene talent and unnatural beauty. It’s a party. Clock in – WERK out." THISISPOPBABY.

Misty Dingle

February 24 2012

I'm just back from Dingle, Co Kerry. We're busy making preparations for Féile Na Bealtaine 2012, an annual community arts festival held on the peninsula every May Bank Holiday weekend. While there I did my usual Slea Head drive around the peninsula to see only the sea. The Blasket Islands, Mount Brandon, The Three Sisters and anything else with a peak or a hump was properly buried in the mist. Thankfully the ever changeable sea was it's loyal and hypnotic self.

The Year Of Magical Wanking

February 02 2012

The Year Of Magical Wanking is an autobiographical one man show written and performed by Neil Watkins. It is currently on a nine-week Australian tour with THISISPOPBABY. I can imagine the mixed bag of nerves and excitement that set off for Oz in January. What was once a work in progress during Queer Notions in The Project Arts Centre, has now moved on to a country over a hundred times bigger than our little Éire.

With the tour nearly halfway through, YOMW is going down a storm with both the audience and critics....can't say I'm surprised!

Those of you living or touring Australia right now, check it out The Year Of Magical Wanking

"Go see this show...it has an unexpected might, one which Watkins sustains with near perfection throughout...I cannot stress how much essential viewing this really is. Steal, beg or borrow for a ticket. Deliciously mesmerising... In fact, it’s just pure brilliance."

Beautiful World

January 16 2012

Images from 'The Word and Light' poetry book. Originally a commissioned poetry and photographic collaboration between poet Dr. Mícheál Fanning and I. It highlights archaeological sites of West Kerry. Encounters contemporary people and places of the peninsula and also recounts a spiritual journey.

Dr Fanning passed away suddenly in 2010 and this project has now become 'Beautiful World' photographic exhibition. The exhibition was a collaboration of works by renowned Irish photographer John Minihan and I, as a tribute to the late Dr Fanning.
